After being started in 1992 we have embarked on improving on this great idea and hope you like the changes we're making as much as we do. It has taken considerably longer than expected to 'over-haul' the business but we're confident you will be happy with what you find. ALL of our garments have been and proudly remain "Made in USA". We are not a big company that produces large volumes in factories (so that ya'll end up wearing zakly the same thing !). BIScuts Handlerwear is now made by highly talented sewists working from their home in their "spare" time. (It has been our experience that 'factories' can produce at a lower cost BUT we have found the quality of fabrics and the stitching not up to our standards. The clothing simply does not hold up to the abuse we dog show ladies can put on them) Consider this VALUE scenario ..... Cost per wearing Skirt Price $25 Worn 5 times then falls apart = $5.00 per wearing Skirt Price $50 Worn 20 times NOT yet deteriorating = $2.50 per wearing So it is cheaper to buy better quality that will last - especially if that dress turns out to be your best "lucky" winning dress. Then, you certainly don't want it to fall apart before that particular dog is finished ! Our prices reflect the cost of the fabric, all the notions (zipper, buttons, snaps etc...) and the cost to either ship it or expense to bring our booth to a show. Our final add is our labor, which varies, but trust that this amount is considerably less than half of minimum wage!! We are more of a hobby business and not high volume, not high profit ..... so please, .... stop and think ..... Yes, garments can be purchased for less, but they are neither the quality fabrics nor the special designs that us dog showing gals need (Oh duh, otherwise you wouldn't be here shopping for an outfit if the designs were already easily available at a lesser cost) And it should go without saying, our prices are far below high end suits (that don't have proper pockets anyway) that must be dry cleaned adding more cost and inconvenience (getting it back from cleaners in time for next weekend) Been there ! Done that! Thus the reason BIScuts came into being J
In addition to our Catalog Sales we only occasionally attend dog shows and set up our Vendor Booth to offer our products. Please stop by, as we will frequently offer Closeout Specials and "This show only" Sales. We will also periodically introduce new items in limited quantities - so see us early for the best selections. We'll be there ALL weekend. Shop Early for best selection! OR if you're too busy (showing) during the day, we will give you a 'private' shopping appointment after Best In Show .... let us know in advance, and we'll take you in after normal hours. Remember, this is by appointment only... and yes, your appointment can be set by email now. Quantities are LimitedWe limit the number of garments made from each print for two reasons:
May we suggest shopping early and having more than one choice of fabric in mind when placing orders. FYI ....We sew in the winter months and majority of our customers do their buying during the very early spring. Selection becomes minimal during the summer and fall.
We will not be re-printing a paper catalog. It is too expensive compared now to the internet costs. AND, a printed catalog becomes outdated almost as soon as the ink dries, yet we can easily (yeah right) and instantly (supposed to) keep our Internet On-Line Catalog current at all times. The Web catalog cost is a fraction of the costs to print & mail paper catalogs. The lower our costs to do business, the lower we can price our garments. So anyway, if you got here and are reading this, there is no need to request a catalog ..... you're looking at it !! (Unless you would like a copy of our old catalog. Seems the media likes to advise the public that an internet company isn't real unless the customer receives a catalog. I cringe every time I hear them telling people to request a catalog before they buy over the internet. Ah well, another case of a few bad guys ruin it for the majority of good folks) Anyway, we do still have a few left over copies of our printed catalog and would be more than happy to send you one if you'd like Gentle Reminders to BIScuts from Sewing Business experts: Its always a good idea to tell
your customer how much time and effort is put into creating the product. People
who don't sew really don't know how much effort it takes to make anything in the
sewing room. Non-sewists rarely comprehend the amount of time spent
considering fabric choices, thread colors, designing & placement, ironing,
pressing, machine care, and maintenance. Not to mention bookkeeping, marketing,
internet maintenance and so much more goes in to having that final garment ready
for sale. From concept to fabric set-up, to cutting it out then sewing it
and loading its detail to the Web and in bookkeeping of inventory & sales ......
well it can be well over 12 hours start to finish per garment. At only minimum wage that is
about $75 per garment just for labor. So, Please don't ask for a lower price
nor think the final garment prices are high and "pricey".
Made in USA prices are slightly higher than those those made in foreign countries, and no doubt
most have
heard about those horrible conditions and child labor. Enough said - THANK
YOU !! This embroidery is
given to you with love and friendship
